Strategically aligned with The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Party Animals‚ principal goal was to "celebrate the extraordinary artistic energy of the Washington community." Therefore, 200 of the region's top artisans were commissioned to paint or otherwise adorn donkey (and elephant) sculptures positioned throughout Metro DC. Since Dan is deeply involved in the Washington Area Musicians Association (WAMA), he was asked by the organization to develop a design with a musical slant.

To the delight of innumerable passers by, Dan's Ass was on public display outside the coveted confines of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
