What's in a Logo?

On the contrary, what’s NOT in a logo that makes it an easily identifiable image? Does it have unnecessary clutter (lines, extra colors and gradations)? Can you guess the name of the company simply by looking at the icon? Do you see something there that isn’t? These are mundane tasks that the general public need not concern itself with, but they’re imperative to a design firm. A logo is a company’s corporate identity. It’s who they are and should reflect that, instantly. Obviously, it can’t show in detail every aspect of a company but that’s not the purpose either.
